Strider Anglers among the cerulean waters of the Boite River, in the pleasant plain of Fiames, the scene of the legendary battle between the People of Fanes and the Duranni.
Meeting Point: area of Ponte de Ra Stia. Località Gilardon, Fiames, Cortina d’Ampezzo (BL)
The Austrian anthropologist Karl Felix Wollf, in the 20th century, collected testimonies and stories from the Ladin oral tradition and shaped the beautiful Saga of the Fanes People.
The legend narrates that right in the Fiames River Plain, the stage of our Tenkara fishing adventure, the battle took place. The armies of the Fanes and the allied armies of the Duranni and the Peleghetes faced each other over there. There, the Warrior Princess Dolasilla of the Fanes and her opponent, the daring Prince Ey de Net, locked eyes without crossing weapons. Legend has it that no blood was shed and the battle was resolved like this.
We will depart from the area of Ponte de Ra Stia and peacefully walk along the almost flat banks of the cerulean Boite River. On the left hydrological bank, parallel to the trail marker 10, with a series of splendid Tenkara fishing spots, immersed in the soundscape of the stream under the cool shade of the fir forest. After about 3 km, we will arrive at the river bend near the Visitor Center of the Dolomiti d’Ampezzo Natural Park.
This first segment offers unforgettable Tenkara fishing spots.
We will enter the convenient mule track that stretches along the eastern banks of the body of water, faithfully following its course.
These are the southern extensions of the protected area. We will then take the small road to the left marked with trail marker 417. Let’s cross the stream, and follow the descent on the opposite side of our outgoing wondering path. Allowing us to discover various other captivating fishing spots. All surrounded by an idyllic landscape of woods, meadows, and natural beaches nestled within a backdrop of fantastic peaks.
This stretch has a mirrored development of about 3 kilometers. We will conclude the excursion at Ponte de Ra Stia, where the loop closes. This outing, very pleasant and relaxing in a magnificent environmental context, features gentle slopes. With just 60 meters of elevation gain, evenly positive and negative, over a total distance of 7 Kilometers. Itinerary also suitable for families and those with little experience in hiking.
