The Path of the Canyons and Waterfalls. The wonder, the amazement. The Beauty. It will not be surprising to discover, with this magnificent excursion, the reasons for the setting in these hidden and wild places.
Strider Anglers Explore. Meeting point Baita Spiaggia Verde, Strada Statale 51 di Alemagna, 32043 Cortina d’Ampezzo BL. This trail, part of the Strider Anglers Explore series, features medium difficulty characteristics, not suitable for beginners.
Protected by the Dolomiti d’Ampezzo Natural Park, of the Ladin saga par excellence, the legend of the People of Fanes.
Stunning forests, deep gorges carved by cerulean waters, wonderful waterfalls in sequence, and frothy cascading waters, in a swift succession of poignant landscape emotions. We will carry out a delightful and relaxing Tenkara fishing session along the flat banks of the Boite stream. In the cool shade of the forest, starting from the locality of Spiaggia Verde. We will ascend the watercourse along trail 10, treading the ground of the mythical battle of Fiames, which saw the troops of the People of Fanes, led by the warrior Princess Dolasilla, confront the forces of the Duranni, headed by the daring Ey de Net.
After about 800 meters at the boundary with the park territory, we will put away our Tenkara fishing gear and continue on our trail. A mule track follows the course of the Boite, gradually ascending alongside the slopes of Col Rosà. With a moderate incline, sometimes steep, the path will lead us to Ponte Outo. Here the amazing view opens spectacularly onto the tumultuous and deep system of canyons and gorges created by the Fiames and Travenanzes streams on the Ampezzo Dolomites. Here the water courses intersect with their rushing waters and meet their respective valleys.
During the excursion in Val Travenanzes it is possible to see chamois and marmots almost everywhere.
The bridge spans the gorges with an airy, wonderful arch, at the center of a mountain scene of sublime beauty, made of dense forests, frothy waters, steep pinnacles, pillars, and looming walls.
We will insist on trail 10, which continues to wind along the mule track high above the basin of Val di Fanes amidst the forest. We will navigate its hairpin turns by cutting through a path also marked with the number 10. After about 1.5 km and 250 meters of ascent, we will arrive at the spectacular, roaring waterfall of Sbarco de Fanes. A wonder of nature that offers the magical opportunity to take a few steps behind the waterfall, between spray and rock, along a stretch of protected ledge. We will then enter the Trail of the Canyons and Waterfalls, which winds through magnificent forests of fir trees. Always along the steep and roaring right bank of the Rio Fanes. An ideal place to practice Tenkara fishing.
Sometimes overlooking the sequence of water games and waterfalls, in a pristine and enchanted dimension of dense, precious naturalness. Ever more astonished and delighted, we will descend to Ponte de l’Ors, a small crossing that surpasses a powerful waterfall of the Rio Fanes, here at its peak. We will cross to the other side and continue to descend on the path, which winds steeply with sections that are also steep and cliff-like along the hillside. Now in an open and grand setting, with sublime views of the titanic massifs of the Tofane and the Cristallo. We will enjoy the Basse waterfalls and merge onto our route back at Ponte Outo, from where we will retrace our steps back to Spiaggia Verde di Fiames.
